Welcome to the Berlin-Nairobi ExchangeThis is the new website of the Berlin-Nairobi Exchange. Currently only a very limited amount of information is available but we will slowly but steadily add information until it is complete. Our old website provides some more information but it is also incomplete and not up-to-date. We appreciate your patience. Study physics in Kenya - apply by clicking here!Brief summaryThe Berlin-Nairobi Exchange was established in 1995. Its main goal has since been to send German undergraduate physics students to Kenya so that they can learn from Africa. The Berlin-Nairobi Exchange believes that the West has not put enough emphasis on learning from and about Africa before engaging in collaborative projects. The Berlin-Nairobi Exchange is therefore proud to have already sent 21 German undergraduate physics students to Kenya, each for an entire academic year. They have made invaluable experiences and gained a better understanding of Kenya. Please see the homepages of the participants. The collective experience made and understanding developed by the above participants has allowed the Berlin-Nairobi Exchange to develop collaborative research projects. One is on photovoltaics research (information not up-to-date) and the other on atmospheric measurements using DOAS (information not up-to-date). Part of the photovoltaics research is a summer school in Nairobi in 2007 funded by the Volkswagen Foundation. The Berlin-Nairobi Exchange is directed by Dr. Jurgen Theiss, Dr. Florian Weissbach, and Marko Förstel. The Berlin-Nairobi Exchange appreciates to be contacted by anyone who is interested in its activities. Contact: |
